 Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD)

FASD is an umbrella term describing the range of effects that can occur in an individual whose mother drank alcohol during pregnancy. These effects may include physical, mental, behavioural and learning disabilities with lifelong implications.

 

 

Vision:

 

"An integrated response to Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder that optimizes the health and wellbeing of our community."

 

 

Mission Statement:

 

"The mission of the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Coalition of Ottawa is to support prevention strategies and promote awareness of FASD and available resources. Initiatives of the Coalition will demonstrate sensitivity to and an understanding of FASD, utilize partnerships and build on existing community resources."

 

 

 

The Coalition brings together individuals from a variety of sectors. Members of the Coalition are currently involved in the following working groups:

 

  • Community training
  • Prevention and Health Promotion
  • FASD and Schools

 “Being your best with FASD” 

We are pleased to announce the opening of the referral process for applicants for the new Ottawa FASD Enrichment Fund, a fund of the Community Foundation of Ottawa. The fund will provide bursaries to  individuals affected by FASD to help pay for programs and activities for enriching lives through self-esteem and confidence building and maximizing potential.
