About the Children & Youth Agenda
In 2006, the City of Ottawa and United Way/Centraide Ottawa partnered to initiate a collaborative community approach to plan for the needs of Ottawa's children and youth, and their families through the creation of a Children and Youth Agenda (C&YA).
The goals of the C&YA are:
- Develop a Framework for promoting healthy child and youth development;
- Facilitate the creation of a community-led Leadership Table; and
- Enhance community and City staff ability to apply the Framework.
Several groups have been key supporters in launching the Children and Youth Agenda. They include:
- Child and Youth Friendly Ottawa
- Children's Aid Society
- Middle Childhood Matters Network
- Ottawa Youth Commission
- Success By 6
- Understanding the Early Years Project
- Youth Count Network
The Children and Youth Agenda Team thanks the many stakeholders who gave their time, expertise and visionary thinking to participate in the various consultations that contributed to the creation of the Framework for Promoting Healthy Child and Youth Development.
